EcoMetrics is built to give marketing and sustainability teams carbon data they can understand, explain and act on. Our methodology uses activity data from your connected platforms, applies relevant emissions factors, and turns marketing activity into clear carbon reporting.

EcoMetrics uses activity data from your marketing platforms, such as impressions, clicks, sessions, sends and campaign activity. This gives you a more accurate view than broad spend based estimates alone. Our methodology has been developed alongside Sheffield Hallam University to bring academic rigour to the way marketing emissions are calculated, reviewed and reported.

EcoMetrics is guided by recognised media sustainability frameworks, including the Global Media Sustainability Framework. This helps support a consistent approach to measuring and reporting marketing emissions. We do not want our calculations to feel like a black box. EcoMetrics is designed to show where emissions come from, which data has been used, and how results are presented across channels, campaigns and platforms.
EcoMetrics connects to the marketing tools you already use, including paid media, website analytics and email platforms. Once connected, the platform pulls in the activity data needed for reporting.
The platform uses activity data from your connected accounts. This can include impressions, clicks, website sessions, email sends, campaign data and other platform metrics, depending on the integration.
EcoMetrics applies relevant emissions factors to your marketing activity data. These factors are reviewed and updated over time to reflect current methodology, industry guidance and available research.
The platform converts marketing activity into estimated carbon emissions, shown as CO₂e. Results can then be viewed by platform, channel, campaign and overall marketing activity.
EcoMetrics turns the data into dashboards and reports that marketing and sustainability teams can use. See where emissions are coming from, track changes over time and identify opportunities to reduce impact.

Our methodology is grounded in trusted, verifiable data. EcoMetrics draws from a wide range of internationally recognised sources, including:
• National Grid and government energy reports
• International Energy Agency (IEA) and Statista global datasets
• Academic research and independent energy studies
• Industry frameworks such as Ad Net Zero Technical benchmarks for device and network energy use
• Guidance from sustainability bodies like the Carbon Trust
By combining these sources with Sheffield Hallam University’s research partnership and our in-house expertise, EcoMetrics ensures every calculation is transparent, credible, and kept up to date.
